An armed robbery in Petersburg on Wednesday, February 21st is the focus of this week's Crime Solvers spot.

The ABC store - located in the first block of West Washington Street - was just closing at 9:00 PM when a customer appeared at the door and asked to make a purchase. The cashier opened the door and was immediately confronted by 2 armed suspects.

One suspect got the money from that cashier's register while the other rushed to the rear of the store where the entire day's receipts were being prepared for deposit. Both suspects were black males and appeared to be in their mid-20's. They were both armed with hand guns. One was about 5'8" tall with a heavy build and had a ring on his left pinky. He wore a dark hoody, blue jeans and had his lower face covered by a scarf. The other suspect was about 5'10" tall, with a slender build. He wore a multi-colored warm-up jacket and a dark knit cap. A third suspect remained outside as a lookout.

Several thefts of construction equipment have been reported to Petersburg police and we're asking for your help to solve them.

Early in February, a David White Dual Slope Laser, in a black carrying case, and a Topcom Pad Laser, in a yellow case, were stolen from the new hospital construction site on Pinehill Blvd.

Later that same month, a yellow Stow 3 bag mortar mixer with a Honda engine, was stolen from a construction site on Poplar Springs Drive.

Items stolen are valued at more than $8,500.00 but they will probably be offered for sale at a fraction of their true value.

Crime Solvers pays rewards of up to $1,000.00 in cash for information that leads to an arrest. If you know anything about these thefts, or you have information about any crime or fugitive in the Petersburg or Dinwiddie County area, call Crime Solvers at 804-861-1212.
